旧约-传道书(Ecclesiastes) 第10章

第1段

中文 死苍蝇,使作香的膏油发出臭气。这样,一点愚昧,也能败坏智慧和尊荣。
英文 Dead flies cause the ointment of the apothecary to send forth a stinking savour: so doth a little folly him that is in reputation for wisdom and honour.

第2段

中文 智慧人的心居右。愚昧人的心居左。
英文 A wise man's heart is at his right hand; but a fool's heart at his left.

第3段

中文 并且愚昧人行路,显出无知。对众人说,他是愚昧人。
英文 Yea also, when he that is a fool walketh by the way, his wisdom faileth him, and he saith to every one that he is a fool.

第4段

中文 掌权者的心,若向你发怒,不要离开你的本位,因为柔和能免大过。
英文 If the spirit of the ruler rise up against thee, leave not thy place; for yielding pacifieth great offences.

第5段

中文 我见日光之下,有一件祸患,似乎出于掌权的错误,
英文 There is an evil which I have seen under the sun, as an error which proceedeth from the ruler:

中文 就是愚昧人立在高位。富足人坐在低位。
英文 Folly is set in great dignity, and the rich sit in low place.

中文 我见过仆人骑马,王子像仆人在地上步行。
英文 I have seen servants upon horses, and princes walking as servants upon the earth.

第8段

中文 挖陷坑的,自己必掉在其中。拆墙垣的,必被蛇所咬。
英文 He that diggeth a pit shall fall into it; and whoso breaketh an hedge, a serpent shall bite him.

第9段

中文 凿开(或作挪移)石头的,必受损伤。擘开木头的,必遭危险。
英文 Whoso removeth stones shall be hurt therewith; and he that cleaveth wood shall be endangered thereby.

第10段

中文 铁器钝了,若不将刃磨快,就必多费气力。但得智慧指教,便有益处。
英文 If the iron be blunt, and he do not whet the edge, then must he put to more strength: but wisdom is profitable to direct.

第11段

中文 未行法术以先,蛇若咬人,后行法术也是无益。
英文 Surely the serpent will bite without enchantment; and a babbler is no better.

第12段

中文 智慧人的口,说出恩言。愚昧人的嘴,吞灭自己。
英文 The words of a wise man's mouth are gracious; but the lips of a fool will swallow up himself.

第13段

中文 他口中的言语,起头是愚昧。他话的末尾,是奸恶的狂妄。
英文 The beginning of the words of his mouth is foolishness: and the end of his talk is mischievous madness.

第14段

中文 愚昧人多有言语,人却不知将来有什么事。他身后的事,谁能告诉他呢。
英文 A fool also is full of words: a man cannot tell what shall be; and what shall be after him, who can tell him?

第15段

中文 凡愚昧人,他的劳碌使自己困乏。因为连进城的路他也不知道。
英文 The labour of the foolish wearieth every one of them, because he knoweth not how to go to the city.

中文 邦国阿,你的王若是孩童,你的群臣早晨宴乐,你就有祸了。
英文 Woe to thee, O land, when thy king is a child, and thy princes eat in the morning!

第17段

中文 邦国阿,你的王若是贵胄之子,你的群臣按时吃喝,为要捕力,不为酒醉,你就有福了。
英文 Blessed art thou, O land, when thy king is the son of nobles, and thy princes eat in due season, for strength, and not for drunkenness!

第18段

中文 因人懒惰,房顶塌下。因人手懒,房屋滴漏。
英文 By much slothfulness the building decayeth; and through idleness of the hands the house droppeth through.

第19段

中文 设摆筵席,是为喜笑。酒能使人快活,钱能叫万事应心。
英文 A feast is made for laughter, and wine maketh merry: but money answereth all things.

第20段

中文 你不可咒诅君王,也不可心怀此念。在你卧房也不可咒诅富户。因为空中的鸟,必传扬这声音。有翅膀的,也必述说这事。
英文 Curse not the king, no not in thy thought; and curse not the rich in thy bedchamber: for a bird of the air shall carry the voice, and that which hath wings shall tell the matter.
